Direct deal is an off-market deal. Off market deal takes place directly between 2-party. One would sell or cross their shares to another at a certain price which might be of premium or discount to the current market price. This dealings are called off-market because it does not impact the "market" price.

btw... I am a beginner not any pro.

Is that direct-deal no need to pay brokerage? or pay very minimum stamp duty? Who is qualify to do direct-deal and what is the minimum transaction volume? Look like it involved heavy value.

Is that I (as a small player) qualify to know more, where can I find those reading materials.

Any direct-deal player here? I want to ask and learn more... buck2

odd market is not off market. odd market is for us to trade odd lots that usually results from corporate action.

Anyone can do direct-deal. it is not only for "small" player. Anybody can do it as long you can find the match. The brokerage costs is neg. but the clearing fees and stamping duty is standard. In the "normal"-market, matching is done automatically by the system. For the direct-deal, you need to find the buyer or seller yourself. Tats why it is called direct deal.

eg. I got 100,000 shares of genting to sell. If I dump that shares in a quiet market, it would bring down the price. Sometimes there isnt any buyer at all. At the same time, you wanted buy 100,000 Genting shares. But the problem is that there isnt much seller too (in a quiet market). If you buy from the market, you would bid up the price and thus also your acquisition costs. But luckily, we know each other and I decided to sell to you the 100,000 shares off market. We got our problem solved.

If we happen to have the same brokerage house, then it is called marriage deal. But if our brokerage house is different then it is call direct deal.

How does it affects us??? Everything and also nothing....

Yes, normally the maintenance will start at 12am till 12:30am/1am.

I also experienced before they're running the maintenance during trading hours... but recently the system is ok, problem lesser.
